The kitchen strainer is made of stainless steel to ensure rust-free, corrosion resistance and durability. The cuts are also colored red to make the cracks clearer and to make the object more thrilling.

Following my artistic roots and designing a kitchen appliance that also doubles as an exhibition piece. Ripple is an object with its own story.

Following my artistic roots and designing a kitchen appliance that also doubles as an exhibition piece. Ripple is an object with its own story.

Many kitchen appliances find their place in small, narrow kitchen cupboards and only see daylight for a short time for their use. They have to be practical to use, but they are hardly visually appealing. My draft is a suggestion for how we should view kitchen appliances in the future. As an eye-catcher for the kitchen, honored for its benefits.


Ripple brings a new modern approach to the design of inconspicuous kitchen appliances.

Ripple's design was inspired by sculptures and the idea of an object, that looks interesting but is also usable. The story of Ripple is, that its shape was torn apart. Cracks appeared alongside the half-open globe wich resulted in this final shape.

Looking at it trough the eyes of a designer, this shape is ideal for the criteria as a kitchen strainer. The big opening allows easy pouring for food items and the water can easily drain through the cracks.

The sieve is a typical product that is often replaced quickly if there are even the smallest errors, as there is no bond between the user and the product due to an emotionless design. My goal is to create a long-lasting and sustainable product by delighting the user with its appearance and creating a bond that ultimately makes them want to keep the device for as long as possible.

Use and appearance play a big role for the design ‘Ripple’. The object is designed to give the user a pleasant feeling and to enjoy looking at it, even when it is not in use.
